Job Summary:
The Accountant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the accounting team’s daily operations to ensure compliance with financial regulations, accuracy in record-keeping, and efficient support for import and export transactions. This role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of international trade finance practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.
Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Review and verify financial reports related to import/export transactions, including invoices, purchase orders, and shipping documents.
Monitor cash flow and assist with budgeting to ensure sufficient liquidity for international transactions.
Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards, tax regulations, and customs requirements.
Coordinate with external auditors and assist in internal audits related to import/export activities.
Stay updated on changes in trade laws and tax policies that affect the business.
Manage and mentor the accounting team, providing training and support to ensure high performance.
Assign tasks, monitor progress, and evaluate team members' performance.
Resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy in financial documentation.
Verify and reconcile financial data related to customs duties, tariffs, freight costs, and insurance.
Work closely with the logistics and procurement teams to coordinate financial aspects of imports and exports.
Monitor and manage Letters of Credit (LCs), bills of lading, and other trade finance instruments.
Develop and implement efficient accounting processes tailored to the import/export business.
Automate manual tasks and recommend tools to streamline operations.
Identify and mitigate risks related to foreign exchange and international trade finance.
