### Job Title: Chinese Translator

#### **Position Overview:**
The Chinese Translator will be responsible for providing accurate and culturally appropriate translations between Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) and English. This role involves translating written documents, interpreting spoken communications, and ensuring that all translations maintain the original meaning, tone, and context.

#### **Key Responsibilities:**
- **Document Translation:** Translate a variety of documents, including legal contracts, business reports, marketing materials, and technical manuals from Chinese to English and vice versa.
- **Interpretation:** Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpretation services for meetings, conferences, and events as needed.
- **Quality Assurance:** Review and edit translations to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to client specifications.
- **Cultural Sensitivity:** Adapt translations to fit the cultural context and ensure that all communications are culturally appropriate.
- **Research:** Conduct research on terminology and industry-specific language to ensure accurate translations.
- **Client Communication:** Liaise with clients to clarify translation requirements and provide updates on project status.
- **Documentation:** Maintain records of translation projects, including client instructions, revisions, and final outputs.

#### **Qualifications:**
- **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Language Studies, or a related field. Certification in translation is a plus.
- **Experience:** Minimum of 2-3 years of professional translation experience, with a strong portfolio of translation work.
- **Language Proficiency:** Native or near-native proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) and English, with a deep understanding of both languages' grammar, idioms, and cultural nuances.
- **Skills:**
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in translation software and tools (e.g., CAT tools).
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
