Duties: A Transportation officer's duties include operating vehicles to coordinate traffic and provide customer service and come up with a plan to avoid their occurrence. • Booking schedule: Coordinate transport bookings, produce daily schedules for the drivers’ allocating tasks for transport bookings and sending confirmations. • Performing safety checks on vehicles and storage equipment • Loading and unloading goods (Warehouse Workers) • Transport costs, schedules, and delivery on times • Answering customer queries/ensure customer satisfaction. • Monitoring stock levels (in larger units and warehousing) • Contacting clients to obtain missing information or answer queries. • Scheduling transportation services for smooth operations • Ensuring logistics operations conform to industry regulations • Maintaining working knowledge of standards • Planning routes, load scheduling for multi-drop deliveries and allocating truck drivers. • Booking in deliveries and liaising with customers. • Allocating and recording resources and movements on the transport planning system. • Communicating effectively with clients and responding to their requirements. • Directing all transportation activities and Monitoring transport costs. • Negotiating and bargaining transportation prices. • Checking the invoices for data accuracy. • Contact clients to obtain missing information or answer queries • Liaise with the Logistics department to ensure timely deliveries • Communicate important feedback from customers internally • Organizing, collecting & filing sales orders using knowledge of electronic filing systems. • Communicating with customers to get the desired information and answer their queries. • Collaborating with the Logistics department to ensure well-timed deliveries. • Maintains shipment documentation and Managing budgets and payments • Perform Other tasks as assigned by Line Manager or Management Team.
