Site Engineer Solar PV

Job Summary: Archetype Cambodia is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Site Manager to oversee the on-site execution of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Power Plant projects. As a representative of our consultancy, you will be responsible for ensuring that the construction activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in accordance with the project specifications and quality standards. This includes the critical responsibility of reviewing and approving contractor method statements and material submissions to ensure compliance and quality. You will act as the primary point of contact on-site, coordinating closely with contractors, subcontractors, clients, and our internal project teams, while being supported by dedicated HSE, Project Management, Document Control, and Quantity Surveying functions. Your strong leadership, technical knowledge of solar PV systems, and excellent communication skills will be crucial for the successful delivery of our clients' projects. Responsibilities: •Site Supervision and Coordination: o Maintain an organized project site. o Oversee and coordinate all on-site construction activities, including civil works, structural installations, electrical installations (DC and AC), module mounting, inverter and transformer installation, and grid connection works. o Monitor the progress of work on-site and proactively communicate any potential issues or deviations to the Project Manager. o Ensure that all work is performed to the highest quality standards and in accordance with the approved drawings, specifications, and methodologies. o Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks. o Manage and supervise contractors and subcontractors, ensuring they adhere to their contractual obligations and performance targets. • Technical Review and Approval: o Review and approve contractor-submitted method statements, ensuring they are technically sound, safe, and aligned with project specifications and best practices. o Review and approve contractor-submitted materials, ensuring they meet the specified quality standards and are compliant with the project requirements. • Coordination and Communication: o Serve as the primary point of contact on-site for all stakeholders, including contractors, subcontractors, clients, and the client’s project team. o Facilitate regular site meetings with contractors and other stakeholders to discuss progress and address on-site issues. o Provide regular updates and reports on site progress to the Project Manager. o Communicate effectively any technical queries or design changes to the project team. • Quality Assurance and Control: o Support the implementation and enforcement of the project's quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) plan. o Monitor the quality of materials and workmanship, ensuring compliance with approved method statements and material submissions, specifications, and standards. o Coordinate and supervise testing and commissioning activities. o Identify and report any non-conformities to the Project Manager, ensuring that corrective actions are implemented effectively. • Health and Safety Support: o Collaborate closely with the HSE Engineer to promote a strong safety culture on site. o Support the enforcement of all HSE regulations and procedures. o Proactively identify and report any potential hazards and risks on site to the HSE Engineer. • Project Support: o Provide necessary site-based information and observations to the Project Manager for schedule management and reporting. o Assist the Document Controller by ensuring that site-generated documents are properly managed, including approved method statements and material submittals. o Provide necessary site-based information related to the works performed to the Quantity Surveyor as required. o Ensure compliance with all relevant permits and approvals on site. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field). • Proven experience (minimum [Number] years) as a Site Manager or similar role in the construction of Solar PV Power Plants or other large-scale infrastructure projects. • Demonstrable experience in reviewing and approving method statements and material submissions for construction projects, preferably within the solar PV sector. • Strong technical knowledge of solar PV systems, components, and installation practices. • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations. • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Strong commitment to quality and safety. • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required. Preferred Qualifications: • Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certification. • Experience working on international solar PV projects. • Knowledge of local regulations and permitting processes. • Fluency in English and Khmer.
